HVAC Contractor secures refund from utility company in excess of $20,000 for Catholic School in Eunice, Louisiana.
St. Edmunds Catholic School has experienced high utility bills for the last nine years. Monsignor Romero has had numerous professionals assess and offer opinions. One controls contractor was hired to re-work the controls which made some slight improvement, but the utility bills still seemed high.
Star Service and the church entered into an agreement, whereby Star assumed responsibility for the air conditioning systems in 2017. Part of the agreement includes going through all of the air conditioning systems to insure proper operation.
In addition to the recommissioning of the units and on-going preventative maintenance, Star reviewed the energy bills and determined that the customer had been improperly charged for electricity. The incorrect rate structure was applied and the result was higher than normal charges.
The utility company has rectified the problem and refunded some of the overages- over $20,000 in the first year. Monsignor Romero said that thousands of dollars were spent trying to remedy the issue and Star figured it out in a day.
